This is my second year doing this, and this time I was on the judging panel for the middle-school division. Every participant felt like my own kid, which left me with a mix of pride, a bit of heartache, and genuine admiration — I think I came away having gained more than I gave!
I wonder if I’ll get to judge again next year?
